LOS ENAMORADOS IBIZA
Hello, barefoot luxury lover!
If the laid-back vibe that dominates the north of the island resonates with you… If you prefer secluded beaches, coves and cliffs over soulless beach clubs… If you LOVE anything original, cool and eccentric…
Ooh, then I am so excited to introduce this unique & luxurious treasure trove of a hotel to you.
With its romantic seaside location and unexpected surprises in every corner there simply is nowhere like LOS ENAMORADOS IBIZA (The Lovers in Spanish - rather appropriately).
The hotel is the labour of love project by Pierre Traversier, a former basketball player, and Rozemarijn de Witte, founder of the famous Dutch magazine Linda.
When the couple saw the property they were mesmerized by its location and charme. Back then it was a pretty hideous, worn-out hostel, but nothing can hold back an artistic vision, right? So they went to work and turned the whole thing into a dream destination for style-conscious hedonists & boutique hotel lovers.
The entire hotel is testament to their innate vision, personality and love of travel. The space is filled with spectacular treasures collected from around the globe, each with accompanying stories about when and where they were discovered.
The result is an eclectic mix of styles that miraculously collide in perfect harmony to create a psychedelic feast for the senses.
Expect bold colours, unique textures and design features in every corner.
It’s like walking through a living, breathing museum. You could stay for a year and still discover something new every day.
And the best bit: If you fall in love with an object - go for it. You can buy pretty much everything you see (just stay away from the red lobster, one day it’ll be mine).
The on-site boutique is an oasis for vintage lovers and art collectors. I haven’t seen such a diverse selection anywhere in Ibiza. You can spend hours picking up this and admiring that, from furniture to fashion.
Los Enamorados is oozing cool but in such a light manner that you forget you’re in a hotel and not in your own home. Style isn’t compromised by pretence, and relaxation is mandatory.
Furthermore, Hotel Los Enamorados Ibiza guarantees there’ll be no screaming babies or over-energetic toddlers to spoil your repose, this is pure grown-up indulgence. Children are welcome in the restaurant but the hotel is an adults-only affair.
The restaurant and bar lead out onto an alfresco terrace overlooking the sea, perfect for sun worshipping by day and romantic dining by night. Perched on the cliffs, you could practically jump from the terrace right into the translucent sea. The view is ridiculously beautiful, especially for sunset.
There’s no pool but who needs a pool when you’ve got this gorgeous, secluded beach right on your doorstep? The sand is soft, the water crystal-clear, and the surrounding cliffs and coves reveal their secrets slowly to adventurous snorkelers.
Needless to say that the owner’s attention to detail extends into each of the nine rooms, all displaying individual style and unique design features.
The sea-view balconies are overlooking traditional fishermen’s huts from which you can hear the gentle lapping of the waves against the cliffs. You will not find a TV in any of the rooms to spoil your encounter with the present moment. Enjoy sunrise and sunset in undisrupted peace.
Ultra comfortable coco-mat mattresses and silky Italian bedsheets are standard, as are beach towels and snorkels.
Grab a rattan chair on the terrace overlooking the ocean and enjoy a late & lazy breakfast served until 1pm. Locally sourced ingredients make up the menu of healthy and super delicious dishes. The avocado-mozzarella toast is divine, and so are their scrambled eggs with toppings of your choice.
There’s muesli, yoghurt, seasonal fruits, and an acai superfood bowl which I have yet to try. Coffee is strong and delicious, and you can order freshly squeezed juices shall you be on a detox trip.
Dinner surprised me in the best possible way. Under the direction of Peruvian chef Alberto Pacheco, who peppers his menu with freshly caught fish from local fishermen, every dish is a culinary taste explosion.
Try the octopus marinated in Amazonian herbs to get a true sense of his flavours. Or the coal roasted seabass wrapped in a banana leaf. There’s Australian black angus solomillo with Peruvian style potatoes, and a black quinoa and vegetable salad seasoned to perfection. I know, how can you possible choose!
I’m not a drinker so I can’t judge, however my company made it rather obvious that his cocktails were cracking. And you wouldn’t expect anything less from Los Enamorados, would you?!
You’ll find this sexy little boutique hotel at the very bottom of Portinatx, a quiet holiday resort on Ibiza’s northernmost point.
Only the lighthouse is further north!
So yes, you are definitely not close to Ibiza’s main hubs but that is a good thing, no? Time to switch off, slow down and explore the other side of the island. There are plenty of hiking opportunities along the coast, and various really beautiful and secluded beaches to explore.
The charming village of San Juan with its lively Sunday market is only a 10 minute drive away.
Within 20 minutes you are in Santa Gertrudis, my favourite Ibiza village with plenty of gorgeous restaurants and great little boutiques.
The north of Ibiza has so much to offer, so much beauty to see.
Let LOS ENAMORADOS look after you in style.
