CA SA VILDA MARGE Design Hotel
If you’re coming to Ibiza to get quiet and recharge your batteries in a supremely stylish yet easygoing setting, then Ca Sa Vilda Marge might be exactly what you're looking for.
Nature Art Design
Again and again I’ve been driving past this delightful agroturismo in the north of Ibiza, never being able to stop to take a closer look. You know, always late... But not this time. As I was driving up the road from Portinatx I went on the brakes and pulled back. And what a gem I had found!
Ca Sa Vilda Marge is a lovingly restored and renovated farmhouse in the far north of Ibiza, near my favourite village of San Juan.
Nestled among the hills that line the winding road leading to Portinatx, you’re only a short drive away from three different beaches, as well as some of the island’s best hiking trails.
This relaxed and homely hotel has so much character and style, it pretty much sums up everything I love. You’ll know what I mean as soon as you step into the tastefully decorated reception area, showcasing the owner’s creative vision and design eccentricity.
The original building is more than 400 years old, which renders into a hotel full of character and charm, with traditional quirks here and there.
Throw in some contemporary art and the owners keen eye for beauty, and you’ll get an immaculately designed finca set within acres of land.
Large grounds dotted with a variety of fruit trees provide the perfect backdrop to recharge body and soul.
Imagine sitting on the terrace, enjoying a deliciously healthy breakfast, picking your fruit fresh from the tree, and watching some sheep passing by on the fields nearby. Yeah I know, heavenly.
Welcome to Ca Sa Vilda Marge!
While the surrounding area feels like travelling back in time and embracing a slower pace of life, the interior of the hotel is oozing cool and chic.
Well, the owner of the hotel is french, it’s almost self-explanatory. Johnny bought the finca in 2016 and has been carefully renovating it since then, keeping the integrity of the building and the encompassing land, whilst adding contemporary design features here and there.
You’ll find various displays of art in every corner, supported by subtle Ibiza tunes to provide the most chilled and elegant ambience for your stay.
The hotel has 9 large and airy double rooms of different sizes, all with a private terrace or balcony. They are pristine and flawlessly decorated, simplistic and chic.
In addition to the main building there’s a recently built wood house in the garden. Yes I know what you're thinking but hang on, I went inside and it’s truly amazing. If you expect basic don’t be fooled, it’s super elegant with modern features like walk-in showers and designer beds. You're right in the green, private and exclusive, yet only a few steps away from the main house. I could quite easily live there.
Despite the fact that the hotel is right by the small road leading to Portinatx, the agroturismo feels miles away. The view over the fields and hills is spectacular.
It’s like being in a different world.
You could easily lose track of time and space, wandering around the acres of land, leaving your phone behind, taking an old-fashioned book, and finding a blossoming orange tree to provide shade and tranquility.
But if you do want to venture out and explore some authentic Ibiza vibe, then Ca Sa Vilda Marge is only a short drive away from the beautiful village of San Juan. Even in high-summer it never gets hectic here.
There are delicious fine dining restaurants nearby, as well as traditional cafes and tapas bars. And don’t forget the colourful and lively market in San Juan on Sundays, it’s a must.
To me this is a super cute hotel that I recommend to visiting friends frequently. Ca Sa Vilda Marge is neither too big, not too small. Not too flashy, but certainly not simple either.
Attention to detail is everything, and you can feel the love and care that went into decorating this charming finca. It feels like entering someone’s private home - someone with taste, style and eclectic interests.
